      Activities and Societies: Internship at “Nuovi Cantieri Apuania S.p.A.” (Viale Cristoforo Colombo 4 bis, Marina di Carrara, 54033 (CA), Italy). The position was in the technical office, about vision, support, control of construction of ro-ro pax. It was also possible to participate into the provisioning of estimates for new potential purchases. The thesis was developed during my internship at “Nuovi Cantieri Apuania S.p.A.”, under the supervision of Prof. Eng. Carlo Podenzana Bonvino and Eng. Alberto Coda. The aim was to describe the evolution of the rules of reference and, in particular, the new legislation concerning the Safe Return to Port came into force on 1 July 2010. It was also examined how this new regulamentation has a significant impact on design and cost of ships.

      Activities and Societies: Internship at “Cantieri Navali Rodriquez” (Via S. Ranieri, Zona Falcata 22, Messina, 98122 (ME), Italy), to vision, support and control the production of hydrofoil and motorboats, under the supervision of Eng. Alberto Borgia. The most important projects were the realization of fast ferry, based on aluminium technology. The thesis, with the supervision of Prof. Eng. Carlo Podenzana Bonvino, was about the verification of the basic design of a 12380 DWT Chemical Tanker; in particular construction plan, hydrostatic calculations, resistance of ship, blade and engine design, capacity plan, bilge, fire and electric system, weights and longitudinal strength, structural dimension and stability were considered.
