      Jun 2008 - Sept 2009
Blood Donor Tele-Recruiter/Retention Officer for Stamps.com

Working at Incept following my time in college I honed my speaking and communication skills to a degree I never thought possible. My work there was two-fold depending on the day. First, I had started as a blood donation recruiter. This consisted of calling for area blood drives such as Gulf Coast Blood Center or United Blood Services. I took a fair amount of pride, being a blood donor myself knowing that my successful appointments were directly involved in saving lives. Soon enough, I had been so successful at donor recruitment that I had been in house recruited to the retention side of Incept to utilize my growing skills there. It was most certainly much more challenging than blood drive recruitment. Retention, by definition, means the customers are calling in to cancel, with my job being to convince them to stay. I was quite successful at this as well, though I found it much less rewarding than my blood drive recruitment work. During my time at Incept I would take the ASVAB and enroll in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) for my future in the United States Air Force. Show less

    • United States Air Force

      Oct 2009 - now

Responsibilities at my first active duty station were primarily training and maintenance on the TPS-75. During this time I rose from the rank of A1C to SSgt by the time the 728th Air Control Squadron was closed by congress. I went from having a mild understanding of the system to a strong effective troubleshooting leadership knowledge. During this time I also learned operational readiness knowledge to include supply chain usage/management, convoy operations, palette packing/validation, deployment readiness operations, advanced first aid techniques, transportation of military equipment procedures, and hostile environment tactics/procedures. Furthermore, I also garnered the Academic Achievement Award at Airman Leadership School before transferring to Luke AFB,AZ. My proudest and most fulfilling time however, was my deployment to Herat, Afghanistan. We were at a NATO owned and controlled base so we as the Air Force were mostly on our own. That experience and the closure of the site taught me an enormous amount about unit self-sufficiency, yet also inter-agency cooperation. Show less
