    • UXC

      Jan 2003 - Jan 2006
      Software Developer

UXC Applications Development (http://www.appsdev.uxc.com.au) are one of the Australia's leading client driven software houses. The majority of their contracts are major State or Federal Government. I was employed as a J2EE developer and business analyst. The largest project that I was part of was a complex system for the Federal Government which had many integration points with other systems. This was built around Hibernate/JavaServer Faces/Spring and again used Mule as the integration layer. On all projects I was also heavily involved with the business analysis of the systems. This involved talking extensively with the client over a period of months and from those discussions drew up documents that the client then had to sign off on. These documents included data/class design, UI design and use cases. This required me to have a comprehensive understanding of the problem domains and to be able to communicate clearly with the clients. Show less

    • GT London

      Feb 2009 - Apr 2009
      Technical Lead/Developer

Good Technology (now VML) was a leading new media agency that has managed brands for Audi, BBC and Microsoft. I was the primary contract developer on the Premier Inn Dubai rebuild project on which I liaised with a team of two developers as well as one non-technical project officer. The project brief was to couple an existing backend system to a redesigned front-end including bespoke business logic amendments. My job spec was to amend the business logic and web services but after resourcing issues I spent the latter third of the project as full time client-side developer. In both front-end and backend I was able to factor out many redundancies in the application. As a result, the change requests that came in late (right up until the release date) were implemented more efficiently. Show less

    • Ozone HR

      May 2009 - Apr 2012
      Developer

My tenure at Ozone HR marked my shift from Java into C#. This change was not as major as it may appear as I was already familiar with object orientated design patterns, abstractions and heuristics. Ozone HR is a software as a service business providing Performance Management solutions to Blue Chip clients. It tracks objective setting, performance reviews and 360 reviews. Ozone HR is an online system is written in C# on the ASP.NET 4.0 platform. It uses JavaScript frameworks Knockout, JQuery and Dojo, and connects to a SQL Server backend and uses Microsoft Reporting.During my time at Ozone I contributed significantly to the culture of the company. My arrival coincided with the start of a complete rewrite of the system. During that time we have executed a number of launches for high profile clients successfully and have continued to provide our customers with a high level of support.Among my responsibilities were: writing and maintaining high quality code at all levels, page design and UX; code reviews. Ozone HR runs a SCRUM process on two week sprints. I also demonstrated the software to potential clients and liaise with them throughout the deployment and launch phases. Show less

State of Play is a partnership between myself and coach Jude Claybourne to facilitate organisational change. Together we have: • facilitated company away days in London & Denmark (for 150 people) • run workshops on communication and co-operation • given presentations at Meetups and Conferences • produced an ambitious 20+ cast play. Through this work, I have learnt that how we react to failure is crucial to success; I’ve learnt how to create processes that give people insights (as opposed to merely "teaching"); and how to introduce and engrain behaviours that can positively influence future habits. Developer

I was on a 6 month contract at ITV as 1 of 4 developers working on the CMS. ITV has taught me how a large business can effectively communicate its needs through BDD (using SpecFlow). • Just-Eat Group

      Nov 2012 - Apr 2013
      Senior Developer

I worked for 6 months under contract at Just-Eat. I was 1 of 3 developers working on the desktop and mobile websites. Just-Eat were migrating from a legacy ASP website to a web service driven, distributed, ASP.NET MVC website . As coverage and the appetite for risk is low (as it is a very high volume website) I enjoyed the challenge of modernising the code as well maintaining a high performance. At Just-Eat I refactored legacy code to fit design patterns; discussed and implemented performance enhancements; took part in front-line live system fixes; improved css structures; and added new functionality across the entire stack from the database to HTML5/CSS3 views. • Imaginary Millions

      Apr 2018 - Mar 2021
      Captain

Last year someone asked me what I'd do with a million dollars.I said "start a record label".Then I realised that I didn't need a million dollars.Imaginary Millions ended up being one of the meaningful things I've done. From what was going to be record label ended up building a incredible music night. On the first Sunday of every month I would host and run a band in The Book Club in Shoreditch. In the room would be 100+ poets, singers, rappers and audience. There would be two microphones always on at the front of the stage. While the band was jamming during the night anyone, at any point, could choose to get up to the mike. This night took us to Manchester, Amsterdam and Birmingham and released two live albums. Most meaningfuly, it was a place where artist felt safe to build their voices and art. On any night we would see both seasoned performers as well as first-timers who then continued to persue music and poetry. Show less
