My role as Utilities Maintenance Supervisor had an area of responsibility that covers Cape Lambert Port Operations 33kV HV and 220/132kV Transmission and distribution Network, Wickham HV and LV network, Cape Lambert Hydrocarbon facilities and Water Quality. I oversee the day to day operations including managing a team of 4 Tradespersons and 1 Apprentice. I also supervise contractors that are doing projects for our division and are responsible for ensuring projects are delivered without delays.I plan and schedule my team’s weekly work and look forward to future plan work during the year with our planning team to ensure we have a well-structured workflow. I have been heavily involved in the commissioning of our 2 new HV Sub stations. One is a 33kV distribution sub and the main is the Bulk Substation that contains new ABB Gas Insulated Switchgear. This Sub has 220/132kV supply and steps down to 33kV for site distribution and is remotely operated and linked to our Network Control Centre due to its interconnection with the North West Integrated transmission system. While at the Power Station my primary Role was Fault finding and critical breakdown rectification, maintenance and calibration of all Electrical/Instrumentation systems associated with a 90MW thermal power station consisting of 3 gas fired boilers, 3 x 30MW steam turbines and associated auxiliaries. I was the lead Electrical person on the safe handover of the Station for it decommissioning in September 2012. This involved setting up isolation lists for contractor handover and ensuring the whole site was safe for demolition to occur. During my time on site and due to my ability to help the operations team out I gained the necessary experience for my Intermediate Boiler Operators ticket.I was also the lead Electrical Authority on the safe handover of the Station for it’s decommissioning in September 2012.
