Summary: The study aimed to screen the lines of rice for salt tolerance at seed germination stage and seedling growth stage using different concentration of NaCl, generation of amplification profile using markers for some known genomic regions conferring salt tolerance and finally correlating the phenotype data and the molecular marker data and evaluate the correlation.   Research Responsibilities:• Contributed in growing season net ecosystem CO2 (NEE) and energy balance of semi-arid grassland using tower based EC flux observations. We have extracted the GHG and Biomet data in the monthly format to estimate carbon and energy balance. Further we have compared Net ecosystem exchange, gross primary productivity and Ecosystem respiration of annual and perennial grassland ecosystems using EC measurements and Chamber measurements. We identified effect of seasonal change on NEE and energy balance closure and found that the plantation grassland acted as a sink. • Working experience in data retrieving and separating GHG and Biomet files and analyzing diurnal variation in various parameters (NEE, photosynthetic photon flux density PPFD, Air temperature, vapor pressure deficit, soil water content etc.) • Performed various measurements such as soil heat flux using self-calibrating soil heat flux plate (HFPO1SC-L50), soil temperature using Averaging soil temperature probe (TCAV-L50), relative humidity and soil water content by water content reflectometer (CS616-L50). Extensively Measured mid-day and pre-dawn Plant, Soil Water Potential and calculated Pressure volume curve using Scholander Pressure chamber (PMS instruments USA). Extensively handled Eddy Pro for processing Eddy covariance data, GIA Roots for high throughput analysis of plant root system architecture and Image J for Image processing, Leaf area and wood anatomical measurements• Handled the project along with one Junior research fellow and a project assistant working under us.
