  During this 6-month contract working at the National Oceanography Centre for NERC and the UK Ocean Acidification Programme, I taxonomically identified UK, Arctic and Antarctic phytoplankton collected on the UK Ocean Acidification cruises in 2011 and 2012.   This short-term position allowed me to gain experience in benthic invertebrate taxonomy. I sieved and picked sediment samples for benthic invertebrates, taxonomically dividing the invertebrates to family, and where possible species level.   In the office, I complete technical reports such as monitoring studies, habitat and environmental baseline assessments for commercial clients. Within these reports I conduct habitat designation, sensitive habitat and species assessments, including sponge, stony and biogenic (Sabellaria) reef, as well as herring spawning ground assessments. I also process and present data using Excel, PRIMER, Ocean V3 and Surfer. Quality checking and processing client comments are additional parts of the reporting process which I also conduct. I have completed reports for clients all over the world, including the UK, Norway, Netherlands, Egypt, Abu Dhabi and Mozambique. I act as deputy project manager on projects, ensuring timely arrival of environmental equipment and personnel to the vessel, briefing the survey environmental team and completing all relevant paper work before and during the survey. During offshore surveys, I work as lead and second lead environmental scientist. Through collaborative interdisciplinary discussion I finalise the environmental scope of work and ensure the environmental team are confident with the survey techniques and sampling plan. If necessary I educate and train team members in the techniques required. I participate in daily meetings with the vessel team to guarantee the environmental survey runs smoothly. I have conducted video/photographic transects, sediment grabbing and ROV pushcoring. Whilst on the vessel, I also complete field reports, management of change forms and risk assessments. عرض أقل

  As a marine adviser for the Dorset, Hampshire and Isle of Wight coast, I completed a range of work. I was joint lead on marine communications, which covered social media campaigns and posts, attending educational events and creating new communications material. I advised on marine and coastal casework across the Dorset, Hampshire and Isle of Wight area. I completed the Lyme Bay to Torbay SAC condition assessment and assisted with the completion of the Chesil Beach and the Fleet SAC assessment. I was involved in a number of monitoring projects including eDNA sampling. My work at times covered the coastal, terrestrial species and habitats including identifying priority species for the Dorset coast. عرض أقل

  I lead JNCC's work under the UK Governments Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP) for Belize and Sri Lanka, focusing on technical support for MPAs and marine biodiversity. The OCPP provides technical assistance to partner countries to improve their marine environments and enable sustainable livelihoods. Our work in Belize includes reviewing and supporting Management Effectiveness Evaluations and facilitating IUCN support for Green Listing Belize MPAs. In Sri Lanka, we have delivered an MPA best practice workshop and are supporting completing METT-4 assessments for Sri Lanka's MPAs عرض أقل As a Marine Ecosystem Adviser within the Marine Ecosystems Team within JNCC I am involved in projects focused on marine protected areas in the UK and further afield. I am a site lead for a number of offshore marine protected areas, maintaining the most up-to-date data and research on the MPAs and providing advice on these, both internally and externally. I am also involved in projects focusing on the designation and management of offshore marine protected areas, understanding how our marine protected areas may change with climate change and how to share JNCC's knowledge and expertise on MPAs globally. عرض أقل I was an Offshore Industry Adviser within the Marine Management Team at JNCC.   G7 ocean adviser

  Between January and July 2021, I completed a placement for Defra (50% of my time, with the other 50% continuing my JNCC role) helping to ensure the ocean was highlighted within the G7 negotiations under the UK's Presidency. This involved liaising within Defra, central government and other governmental bodies to ensure the UK's marine work was highlighted. Organising and participating in bilateral meetings and workshops with the other G6 countries, leading to the finalisation and agreement of the G7 document 'G7 Ocean Decade Navigation Plan'. Creating communication briefing documents, to ensure our key messages were communicated clearly and correctly throughout the G7 summit and beyond. عرض أقل
