  Online research internship under intelligent mechanical systems laboratory

  Title: Development of Overseas Remote Campus Tour System Using Multiple Mobile RobotDescription:The goal of the internship is to develop a system for long-distance teleoperation of mobile robots, allowing overseas students to virtually tour the campus and interact with local students. It was an 11-person research project involving three countries, Japan, France and Malaysia, in which students remotely controlled each other's robots from overseas through VPN.Tasks: ★ Responsible for developing a strategy to prevent robot-human collisions under high network latency conditions.★ Deployed YOLO for real-time human detection and leveraged the depth sensing capability of an RGBD camera to calculate and maintain safe distances between the robot and nearby individuals, halting the robot if the distance fell below a set safety threshold.★ Developed and refined a comprehensive testing framework to validate system reliability and performance.Achievements: ★ My solution was adopted into the operational teleoperation system, contributing to its first official run for interactive virtual campus tours. ★ Achieved a 100% safety margin compliance rate during the open campus day.
