      Based at Jacobs’ Reading office since 2012 and operating in the South-East.- GCN trapping and translocation on the A23 Highways Agency ‘Warninglid to Handcross widening scheme’.- Leading emergence, re-entry and transect bat surveys on major projects including the A23, A14 Improvement scheme, Essex Highways M11 Junction 7a proposal and the Bexhill to Hastings Link Road (BHLR) scheme gaining confidence using bat recording equipment in the field and deploying static anabats.- Carrying out and setting up reptile trapping and translocations for South East Water (SEW), the Environment Agency and respective clients of the four road schemes mentioned above.- Various EPS mitigation work in relation to the BHLR scheme involving liaising with site engineers: Newt fence installations (as an accredited agent), amphibian hibernacula construction, badger latrine surveys and sett closures, artificial sett monitoring (including setting up camera traps), nesting bird surveys, carrying out and setting up reptile translocations, supervision of vegetation clearance and destructive/fingertip searches.- GCN licenced. Competent with bottle trapping, torching, egg searches, netting and identifying sex and species. Supervising the construction of amphibian and reptile hibernacula.- A broad range of other tasks and site supervision on SEW reservoir and pipeline projects (e.g. Swinley Forest, Ashdown Forest, Arlington reservoir & Bolnore village in Haywards Heath).- Experience of dormouse monitoring surveys along the A23, BHLR and on various SEW jobs.       The voluntary work has so far consisted of cleaning the aviaries making them presentable for public viewing, general up-keep and maintenance within the centre keeping the place clean and tidy, helping prepare for and contributing towards birds of prey displays in the afternoon in front small audiences and helping to train some of the less experienced birds alongside a team of other dedicated volunteers.
