  • About me

I am naturalist by passion, wildlife conservationist by heart and profession. My career (1996-till date...) has been dedicated to wildlife conservation, raising environmental awareness, preserving biodiversity, rewilding, promoting sustainability, and to be a voice of the non-human species on earth. Additionally, I have contributed extensively to developing conservation educational resources, managing public relations, strategic planning, resource management, and overseeing administrative functions. Currently, I hold the position of Director at The Corbett Foundation, which operates in seven states across India. In my previous roles, I have worked with The Energy and Resources Institute, Vasant J Sheth Memorial Foundation, and World Wide Fund for Nature - India. I am an active member of several IUCN Commissions, including the Commission on Education and Communication (CEC), the Species Survival Commission (SSC) Bustard Specialist Group, and the World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA). My contributions to the field have been recognized with the NUFFIC Fellowship from the Government of The Netherlands in both 2009 and 2012. I was also a Fellow of the International Visitor Leadership Program, 2010, hosted by the US Department of State. In 2018, I was honored as one of the '50 Most Impactful Social Innovators' at the World CSR Congress in Mumbai and the Excellence in Biodiversity Preservation & Environmental Awareness, Think Wildlife Awards; in 2019, I received the 'IUCN CEC Excellence Award for South and Southeast Asia; and in 2023, Sanctuary Wildlife Service Award. I hold Master's Degree in Zoology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management and my other academic achievements include a Diploma in Conservation Biology from the Bombay Natural History Society, a Certificate in Conservation Education and Interpretation from the Wildlife Institute of India, a Certificate in Wetlands Management and Conflict Resolution from Wageningen University, and a Certificate in Environmental Protection from the US Department of State. I also contribute as a member of the Board of Studies at SIES College, a member of the Governing Council of the Bombay Natural History Society, a member of the India Business and Biodiversity Initiative of CII, Western Region, and a Member of the Sub-Jury of The Habitats Trust grants. I have co-authored the book 'Great Indian Bustard: A Pictorial Life History' and co-edited 'Saving India's Wilderness: Challenges and Solutions,' along with other scientific and popular publications and articles in reputed journals, magazines and newspapers.
