      Colleagues knew about my hobby - activity in the field of ZX Spectrum computers based on Z80. People asked for help - to assemble, set up, fix their computers.And in a day I received an offer to be promouted of HW tester position. What did I risk?Most of the boards were digital, among them were digital filters, 32bit microprocessor & etc.

      First position as an electronic engineer.There was a deal with BETO Ltd. In coarse of that deal we designed group of boards - digital filters for wired telephony with uPC interface, 32-bit microprocessor, interface board and mainboard.My duties such - Conduct a study, present my vision of how this should be done, what stuff is needed for this. After my concept was accepted, I selected the components, made a schematic sketch in OrCAD, determined what and in which FPGA chips, and then gave the schematic sketch further to work. Since I knew more than other guys on this topic, I had to consult and help the guys. I also had to deal with organizational issues.Gained experience with GoLogic-72, a great logic analyzer.Also I introduced with HDL languages. I choose VHDL to self learning & in a day (it was in 2002) I came to my bosses & advanced a proposal to renovate one of our boards PS32K2, that renovation should bring 100$ income, one xc2s150pq208 should be mounted instead two xcv50pq240.       Design devices for wired telephony.Advise customers in technical issues & help them solve problems.Example from work.I am working on a device where one of the FPGA chips (XC2S150) hosts SoC, 32-bit processor, UART and other peripherals. The project is successfully coming to an end, but the external monitoring system gives an error, the error code is described vaguely, the appearance of the error is not permanent.Management anxiously ask me - what to do? I suggested connecting a logic analyzer to the processor, taking signals from it many times. Analyze the processor program, go to the place where the error is detected and further. The core of this processor is not ARM, MIPS or x86. Therefore, it did not have any debugging tools, such as J-Link. From the source code, only a stale version in assembler and signatures. To begin with, I found how switching between tasks occurs in this non-standard RTOS.And in the end I came across a code fragment that generated this error. It turned out that the procedures for testing one node during production and operation are different.Adjust boards & equipment. I do all the steps - draw circuits and simulate their behaviour in MicroCAP, Active-HDL and Xilinx ISE, layout printed circuit boards, prepare files for their manufacture. Develop testing methods in production. Participate in the production control process. Advise in the production process, as well as clients of the company. Help clients solve technical problems.In order not to type in the terminal the same commands to the equipment, all the time. Iwrote a couple of small applications in C++ and C# to work with equipment via a serial port.One is made by Builder2007 and the other is based on C# examples from Microsoft. Commands were entered with a mouse click or from a textbox.Adjusted our devices, fix broken devices. The company is a small business. Show less
