  I lobbied in support of policy reforms to make the criminal justice system fairer, more effective, and more compassionate. Reforms included improvements to laws and to agency practices. The goals were to prevent wrongful convictions, to make it easier to get innocent people out of prison, and to increase resources and supports for exonerees once they are released. I collaborated with a wide range of partners to achieve success in reaching our common goals. In addition to shepherding through California's new law providing an actual innocence claim to wrongfully convicted individuals, I led weekend restorative justice retreats for exonerees, their family members, and victims of crimes that resulted in wrongful convictions.
