Aug 1995 - Oct 1998Preservation Planner & Senior Preservation Planner• Oversaw the Historic Design Review Board and the Archaeological Review Committee. Lead preservation planner providing technical assistance to the City Council, the public, and other city staff on preservation matters.• Developed a Historic Design Review Board information guide (written in English and Spanish), informing the public about the design review process for Santa Fe’s 5 historic districts. • Wrote height regulations based on historic streetscape character, allowing more flexibility and predictability for height allowances in the historic districts. Utilized Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as a tool for calculating streetscape height to enable residents and architects/builders quick access to permitted height information.• Collaborated with consultant and community to develop a Culture, Arts, and Tourism Plan for Santa Fe and Santa Fe County. Engaged stakeholders (local businesses and Native American Tribes) to develop plans in the arts, tourism, and service industries.• Allocated Certified Local Government grant money allocated for historic buildings and site surveys to update the historic building map on an annual basis. Managed federal transportation grant for construction to bring back the historic character of the Santa Fe, Atchison, & Topeka Depot.• Participated in the community planning and engagement and visioning process and R/UDAT (Regional/Urban Design Assistance Team) charrette for the redevelopment of the Santa Fe Railyard, a city-owned brownfield.• Provided technical assistance to City staff, other governmental agencies, neighborhoods and the general public regarding historic preservation plans and land development regulations of the City.• Oversaw Historic Districts Construction Inspector. The Acequia Madre is central to the urban agriculture history of Santa Fe, and very much linked to the Northern New Mexico culture.
