  Human Immunology Unit:- Learnt and applied many practical techniques, including western blots, RT-PCR, transfection by electroporation using the Invitrogen Neon Transfection System. Observed and learnt about other techniques, such as lentivirus production for transfection, and Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting (FACS).- Worked alongside a DPhil student in tissue culture to help prepare dendritic cells from human blood samples, for use in experiments. - Assigned a side-project to optimize knockdown of CHK2 in dendritic cells using siRNA.   Summer Intern

  Worked on HLA-B27 in the context of ankylosing spondylitis. Specifically, I was involved in a project examining the functional significance of the amino acid at position 97 in the HLA-B27 alpha chain on HLA-B27 expression, in cell lines including HCT15, C1R and HeLa cells. In this project, I was examining the effect of siRNA silencing components of the peptide loading complex on the expression of HLA-B27. I learnt and became proficient in molecular biology techniques, such as Western blotting, FACS and FloJo data analysis, Neon Transfection System, and tissue culture practices. In addition, I was also involved in testing of fluorochrome-labelled siRNA using the Neon Transfection System. Show less

  In my current role as a Clinical Research Fellow in Experimental Cancer Medicine at the Royal Free Hospital, I am actively involved in the delivery and oversight of early-phase clinical trials. My responsibilities include assessing and consenting patients for trial participation, conducting regular clinical reviews, and completing case report forms. I have also contributed to trial setup processes, including site selection visits, site initiation meetings, and local feasibility discussions.I work closely with disease-specific oncology clinics, particularly in hepatocellular carcinoma, pancreatic cancer, and biliary tract malignancies. Alongside my clinical duties, I have taken an active role in research and quality improvement. This has included presenting a poster on progression patterns in hepatocellular carcinoma at the EASL Liver Cancer Summit, and leading a project to develop screening guidelines for immunotherapy-related myocarditis—work that won a presentation competition at the UCL Cancer Institute. I also presented a case series on myocarditis as an oral presentation at the 2025 North London Registrar Presentation event. Show less
