Combined with a minor in Environmental Science, I chose to intersect my passion and interests for the environment with this communications major to better understand and show how important we all find our natural world to be.

      Residence Halls (sometimes called dormitories) are key components of colleges and universities where new and returning students live to form friendships, build communities, and establish support systems as they navigate their life beyond high school. Prior to the Residence Hall Manager position, I served as a Resident Assistant for a year where I helped to create community among approximately 40 First-Year male Residents before being promoted to the Hall Manager position. As a Hall Manager, it was my responsibility to lead a staff of 7 Resident Assistants and help them to facilitate and build community among residents in the newly built Ames Suites Residence Hall. Some of the essential job functions included;-Oversaw and managed the opening of the new 240 bed Jesse H. Ames Suites and the 500 person capacity Ann Lydecker Living and Learning Center for the 2012-2013 academic year-Managed a team of 7 Resident Assistants by facilitating meetings, conducting one-to-one’s, and supporting program ideas to help them relate and develop relationships with residents-Encouraged and promoted use of the Lydecker Center, a student focused meeting and event space-Developed, analyzed, and conducted administrative duties and reservations in the Lydecker Center-Developed and analyzed the new processes and procedures of the Ann Lydecker Living and Learning Center which is attached to Ames Suites -Evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of the inaugural year of Ames Suites and the Lydecker Center in order to further improve the sophomore living experience at UWRF and effectiveness of living as a globally minded, informed, and active citizen Show less

      Terry Wilson Milestone Award-Ames Suites Staff Department of Residence Life Apr 2013 The Ames Suites Staff of 2012-2013 was awarded the Terry Wilson Milestone Award for their hard work and dedication to opening the new Jesse H. Ames Suites Residence Hall. The staff remained dedicated and diligent to the new Residence Hall as we went through the trials and tribulations of a new building .
