We produced billboards, table tents, TV/radio spots, posters, etc. I came up with "It's Springtime, Tallahassee!" and that became the theme.• Miller's Special Reserve: Miller Beer was test-marketing a new beer and we were asked to develop marketing for it. Bill played in a band ("Shark Attack") and wrote the jingle (it's still stuck in my head: "Miller's new Special Reserve... specially reserved for you... you...you...")• The Laughingstock: This was a project for a potential venue. We were ahead of our time. The idea was to bring comedy to Tallahassee. No joke. Show less

Telephone Pole Design Engineer—Quality Award TrueVance Management Jan 2013 Telephone pole design engineer contractor (field surveys and autoCAD engineering drawings) for AT&T (yes, really! Orange vest and all.). It is not as glamorous as it sounds. I would go out in the field—farms, towns, backyards, schoolyards—locate a pole, determine the work needed, then draw the engineering plans. The quality of my work was judged "superior" and I was awarded a $75 Visa gift card. Not bad for a self-taught engineer and autoCAD designer with no prior experience.

Volunteer of the Year Orange County (VA) Public Schools Dec 2006 I worked with Renee Downs, the technology teacher at Locust Grove Elementary School in Orange County, Virginia, to develop an easy-to-use website for the teachers at the school. Unfortunately, like many website projects, it wasn't properly promoted and it was hard to get the teachers to update their homework pages, but it was a valiant effort and the lesson learned was: "If you built it, they may not necessarily come."This was a volunteer project and I used my just-purchased copy of Adobe GoLive! to produce the site (that was the first problem, ugh!)I was awarded Volunteer of the Year 2006 for my effort. Best New Audio Product of the Year Audio Publishers Association May 1998 Selling Power Live was an audio "magazine" published by Selling Power Magazine. It was hugely popular, first on cassette, then on CD. It was my responsibility as the project manager to get the replication done, the proof-listening taken care of, the packaging created, the artwork handled and the complicated postal regulations met. This monthly subscription item was mailed to thousands, packaged with the magazine, and used as premiums. There were about 50,000 copies made each time… Show more Selling Power Live was an audio "magazine" published by Selling Power Magazine. It was hugely popular, first on cassette, then on CD. This monthly subscription item was mailed to thousands, packaged with the magazine, and used as premiums. There were about 50,000 copies made each time. My innovative packaging and combination of innovative "vendor-mixing" produced a unique package that was (as one vendor said) "produced much cheaper than possible." (actually, the real phrase was a bit more colorful!) Not only was the content useful, the artwork compelling, but it was produced on time and under budget. I was excited when I went up to the podium in Chicago in 1998 to receive the award personally. Many people were involved in the product besides myself, namely Gerhard Gschwandtner and Lisa Ferrari, but also the interviewees, the listeners, the vendors and everyone at Selling Power. Show less
