  Starch containing formulations are used for the production of packing material for small electronics, such as mobile phones. As there is a desire to open more production locations around the world the existing formula needed to be adjusted for local materials. One of the main ingredient is starch, and the different starch types (potato, corn, tapioca etc) gave different behaviour during moulding. So new formulations including new settings for moulding machine needed to be developed. The physical properties of the starch suspension, as well the properties of the final packaging where evaluated during development. Show less

  As a consequence of new classification of materials several floor care products needed to be reformulated. These products are used for protecting natural stones, like marble and limestone. For this reformulation several suppliers where consulted before requesting samples for testing. Contact angel measurements where done to calculate the surface energy of each new coating to be able to come with an initial draft of new test procedure instead of the lengthy application testing. Furthermore, the found results from the application testing could be backed up with proper measured data. Show less

  Internship

  The aim of the research was to synthesis a tetra cyclic peptide by using a styrene like template. The initial steps where to determine where the functionality groups should come (meta or ortho position) on the styrene to be able to get an Aza-Micheal reaction. With this template the C- en N-terminus of the linear peptide were brought close together for easier ring contraction.

  European formulation manager building care; floor care and personal care/infection prevention. These portfolios are representing a total net sales of 175 million euro a year.As formulation manager I'm responsible to maintain the formulations that fall in the managed portfolio's with the used PLM system. This means that I reformulate formulas when regulations change, there are issues with formulas, when there is a shortages of raw materials on the market or there is a need for improvement of the existing products. In this role I work closely with marketing to agree on the strategy of the portfolio and to keep the portfolio profitable. Here in I lead the team by advising where further optimisation of formulas or harmonisation can be done. Furthermore I'm working closely with the raw material purchase team to find alternative suppliers so we can obtain the best price and quality ratio of our formulation. I'm also working closely with the application experts to get more insight on how products are performing, and how trends are developing with our customers. In this way we can proactively change formulas to meet our customers’ expectations. We do put training materials together for sales people to train customers how to use the products in the optimum way.During reformulation projects the formulation manager is the technical lead of the projects and makes sure that tools from "lean six sigma" are used to obtain the best quality of the final formulation. This includes setting product specification to make sure the quality of formulation from the factories is guaranteed. For the R&D site I’m taking care for the internal audits which are required for the ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 to maintain the high quality standards that are required. For a period of a few months I did take care for the complete ISO 13485 as interim.As a save working place is important for all I’m part of the safety officers team and in-house emergency services (including first aid) Show less As associated scientist I was part of the innovation team, searching for potential new applications of new developed chemistry or chemistry from other applications. My focus was with kitchen care team, so kitchen cleaning products for professional market. Specialised in Mechanical Ware Wash products and oven cleaners. In this role new formulations where Made and tested according internal and standard test protocol. In for a new application the existing test methods where not full filling the needs a new test method was developed.In 2012 I became a team member of the first aid team, and in 2013 I started to take over the ISO9001 certification for the R&D site.
