      Substitute Teacher

I managed the classroom while the regular teacher was absent for the day. I followed the lesson plans left for me and if the students finished early, I had other activities that I do with them so they are engaged in learning the whole time. I have classroom experience in grades K-12.

    • Self-Employed

      Dec 2013 - May 2016
      Private Tutor

I tutored students in any grade. I tutored one student in second grade with reading skills, especially with fluency and comprehension. We also work on handwriting. I meet with this student once a week after school for 45 minutes and we work on homework and then we read a book that is at her benchmarked level or at one level above her benchmark level. After reading the book, we work on comprehension questions. Then we practice spelling words and handwriting.

      Sept 2014 - Feb 2015
      Long Term Substitute Teacher

I took over for the regular classroom teacher while she was on maternity leave. I taught grade 4 Language Arts and Social Studies. I planned lessons in both of these subjects, using best practices and differentiating for students who are at different levels. I implemented an SLO pre-assessment for Social Studies and collected and analyzed data from the assessment. I participated in TBT (teacher based team) meetings. In these meetings, my colleagues and I discussed areas that needed improvement and created a pre-assessment. Once the pre-assessment was given, we analyzed the data and planned instruction. After we gave a post-test, we evaluated our data and see where our strengths and weaknesses lie. I also attended parent-teacher conferences. Show less

      Title I Tutor

As the 8th grade Title I Tutor, I worked with students who fall under the category of "Response to Intervention" or RTI. My 14 students were not on an IEP or 504 plan but still needed extra help to get them to the next level of achievement. I was with most of my students all day, traveling with them to their four core classes and then I worked with them for two periods of tutoring. In the tutoring periods, we worked on homework, makeup work, and extra enrichment for various skills, depending on the students and where they need the most help. I created small lessons for them to do and also used the computer program, Mobymax, for more enrichment. We did small group, whole group, and individual instruction. In the classroom, I assisted the teacher wherever he or she needed it. I often worked with small groups of students with various activities, from math help groups to science lab work. I took small groups of students for testing. I collaborated and communicated with all of my colleagues about my students in team meetings and grade level meetings. We worked together to address the academic needs as well as the behavioral issues of my students and the rest of the 8th grade class. This spring, I administered the Ohio AIR test in math, science, and language arts. In addition to my school day duties, I also attended many other school functions. I volunteered to chaperone school dances. I attended band and choir concerts as well as athletic events. I assisted with the spring talent show. I attended waiver day meetings and parent teacher conferences, even though I was not required to do so. Show less
