      Process engineering and operations intern

      While I was an international intern at Orpic, I simulated Continuous Catalyst Reformer of the refinery using ASPEN for process optimization. I personally developed a thorough understanding of the refinery units via in-plant training and pipeline system tracking. My efforts played an integral role in organizing my fellow interns for an Importance of Automation and Control seminar as well as Real Time Operations of the Platformer Unit presentation.

      As an intern, I was instrumental in using modified Soxhlet Apparatus to accurately determine the oil content in core samples. My efforts determined the bubble point and compressibility factor by performing PVT studies on various oil samples in the lab. Furthermore, I was able to customize mud samples based on drill hole depth and temperature in order to accommodate active drilling in 16 wells.

      For my undergraduate thesis, I accurately predicted solar radiation at Manipal using the Artificial Neural Network and Genetic Algorithm Artificial Intelligence methods. I was able to facilitate LAN data access with integration of the Raspberry Pi solar radiation measurement instrument. Ultimately, I determined the most efficient model based on my comparison of predicted and accurately measured data.

      I analyzed and evaluated a propane gas leak at a client’s facility using Computational Fluid Dynamics. validated the existing models used for CFD modeling using data collected from the release location. I also generated visual representations of developed models using FDS and Smokeview.
