Respond to and provide support on emerging and high-profile activities across the Indian Affairs organization. Serve as a trouble-shooter and a surge resource, assisting the offices within the Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs. This includes defining and analyzing issues, determining the extent of problems and their risk levels, proposing the best resolutions and risk mitigation approaches, and developing new or rising programs, initiatives, and policies. I identify operating issues and advise executives on the allocation of resources for efficient operation and administration. I prepare briefings, interpret policy, and consult on business process design.Key Accomplishments:• Established a team that supports the strategic implementation of IA’s programs under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The team provides direct support to agency leadership on the administration of high visibility funding and supports programs with strategic input on program design and resource management. I serve as a strategic advisor, providing analysis and recommendation to IA’s executive management to allow for informed decision making.• Provided key support to accelerate the program implementation of a brand-new Tribal Electrification Program that provides $150 million to support electrifying native homes with green energy. This included consulting on program implementation design and development of project management tools to facilitate tracking of timeline, risk, and mitigating factors.• Created a cadence of program status reporting to collect and aggregate program information, from project level all the way to executive level. The routine reporting facilitates necessary outward reporting and keeps IA accountable, and outcome focused. This requires coordination with all levels of management within and outside the agency to integrate supplemental funding while furthering the administration’s initiatives most efficiently. Show less Supported the agency’s financial management and budget processes by monitoring the status of financial operations, serving as a subject matter expert (SME) for agency workgroups regarding funds management, and performing as a liaison between accounting and budget disciplines. I managed a staff responsible for two distinct accounting areas: accounting for a comprehensive loan portfolio (guaranteed, insured, assigned and direct loans) and a $300 million reimbursable agreement portfolio. I provided short-term and long-term direction to staff and contractors to effectively advance agency goals, and always led by example, showing professionalism and diplomacy in all environments.I utilized DOI’s FBMS financial management system (based on the SAP ERP application) to extract, analyze, and manage data.
