Dimand believed and invested in the area by acquiring the former industrial premises of the Papastratos tobacco company with a vision to create a technology hub which would restore the urban living environment. Eurobank and EBRD shortly joined as co-investors and the project took-off, to become a case study… Show more A major change is happening in Agios Dionysios, also known as Papastratos district, covering 440 acres is being regenerated and transformed into what some may call the city of the future. Dimand believed and invested in the area by acquiring the former industrial premises of the Papastratos tobacco company with a vision to create a technology hub which would restore the urban living environment. Eurobank and EBRD shortly joined as co-investors and the project took-off, to become a case study in terms of successful sustainable building re-use, private and public collaboration, value creation, economic growth and most importantly employment and community.A new way of working, living, networking and enjoying emerges. After extensive research, Dimand identified the opportunity of the former Papastatos factory, occupying three city blocks with a total surface area of c. 18.000 sq.m. within the district of Agios Dionysios. and a GBA of c. 77.000 sq.m.All buildings have been designed following the main principles of bioclimatic design and are under the LEED® certification process, while it is expected that by 2020 more than 10.000 people will be working in the Piraeus Port Plaza complex. This will bring investor and inhabitant attention, creating sustainable lively neighbourhoods with office, hospitality, commercial, leisure, residential and athletic uses as well as public space and infrastructure.
