I interned under US ITER nuclear engineer, Dr. Juan Ferrada; I was given the opportunity to study the Ion Cyclotron Heating and Current Drive System. I performed a 3D analysis on transmission lines that supply energy to the system. I was tasked with calculating the linear/nonlinear head loss and pressure drop within the copper cooling lines that vary in diameter. I also fabricated a housing box for the cooling system.

      Jun 2016 - Sept 2020
      Marketing Assistant

As a family’s business for over a decade, I've spent a lot of time managing inventory in the store and at various storage locations. I often worked the register and helped in organizing the store. I also set-up the Plato's Closet Knoxville Instagram account. The account updates followers on trends and available outfits within the store. This social media account gives customers the ability to put certain items on hold for pick-up and improves community outreach. I also initiated raffles and other special offers that reward customers for spending a certain amount in the store - initiatives that increased sales. I launched the selling of 4OCEAN bracelets to help fund the cleaning of our ocean and convey support for sustainable practices. I also acquired additional merchandise to sell in the store such as stickers, sunglasses, jewelry, etc. Show less

I performed exploratory studies under Dr. James Klett on heat transfer in graphite foam and additional phase change materials. As an insulator to sound and a super conductor of heat, it's a highly versatile material. My project scope was to simulate the cooling of aircraft microchips in the Middle East. In such a hot, arid climate, aircraft circuitry is subject to overheating; so, the idea was to utilize this material to absorb the heat and subsequently cool it with air or other phase change materials. I also performed studies on a system built to vary heat flux and changes in the air flow. Using the data, I determined the overall heat transfer coefficients and pressure drop of graphite foams with different densities. Show less

As Crew Chief, I was for responsible for safely inflating, following, and retrieving the balloon. I was committed to providing exceptional customer service for this 'Bucket List' activity. TripAdvisor named us the #1 activity in Ithaca, and the company was awarded the Certificate of Excellence in 2019. I also helped in managing some of the social media content and outreach on the company's Instagram page.

As a Teaching Assistant for the Teaching Winery, I assisted courses such as The Science and Technology of Beer, Distillation Principles and Practices, and Cider Production. My responsibilities included sample prep and pouring samples for courses of 50+ students. I helped the professor(s) in setting up assignments, presenting lectures and reviewing papers. During my time as a TA, I also owned a project on updating and instituting Standard Operating Procedures within the Teaching Winery, specifically on the small-scale bottling process. In the Teaching Winery, I also worked part-time to keep the lab in good condition. I was in charge of calibrating the pH meters, digital refractometers, and other equipment. I cleaned and sanitized the floors, counters, sinks, and tanks. I also organized the equipment, fining agents, sugars, and other wine additives. Show less In Dr. Patrick Gibney's lab, I was provided a project to compare yeast propagation in grape juice. I was the lead in inoculating 1x and 10x the recommended yeast concentration in Vidal blanc grape juice. The scope of the experiment was to determine how biomass contributed to H2S production (rotten egg aroma). This involved a 2-week ferment with multiple yeast strains and sensory analysis. Our sensory results was varied across strains, but a majority did not see a significant increase in H2S. I also participated in a study of beer yeast viability; in a non-commercial refrigerator, some yeast stains are stressed in less than ideal living conditions. This 28-week long project was intended to identify which strains could survive the longest. The scope was to determine a strain(s) that possessed a stronger genome for handling poor storage conditions. Theoretically, stronger yeast DNA could be introduced and manipulate weaker yeast genomes to improve viability. Home brewers wouldn't have to worry about their yeast dying in residential refrigerators. This study was eventually published by the lead researcher after my summer research program was completed. My other side project involved identifying different types of bacteria in grape juice using PCR, Gel Electrophoresis and accessing BLAST. Show less

As a BPM, I oversaw the packaging quality of all production lines in the Baldwinsville Brewery: 4 Can Lines, 3 Bottle Lines, and a Keg Line. I had direct impact on producing all ABI brands and ensuring they're produced consistently within our specifications. This included managing the lab, improving engagement, and ensuring lab equipment is running appropriately. My daily responsibilities included verifying our process quality checks, gathering data to improve our best practices, and applying corrective actions. During my time in QA, I've recorded the brewery's lowest Consumer Complaint (CC) record 5x over and achieved annual targets. Through validating submitted complaints, I've initiated investigations and closed gaps in our process. I've also been a part of multiple external audits from the BRC, FDA, and OTCO. We’ve earned two AA BRC ratings - both of which were record performances by the brewery. Through our internal rating system, I managed all charges to suppliers and recovering costs for defective materials. For increased visibility, I created a tracker for the Senior Management to review upcoming back charges and improve our ability to better estimate monthly financials. I was the main POC for signing off on new material getting qualified to use. I implemented another tracker for CO2 retention testing that improved reporting on this intensive procedure. In addition, I was a part of multiple new package qualifications and numerous new brand & variety pack (VP) releases: Stella Artois, Bud Light Seltzer VPs, Nutrl VPs, Hoop Tea, etc. Any non-conforming product remained in control under my management. I led operators and analysts in testing and reworking all product outside of company specs. When unable to release, I built a calculator and improved the SOP for setting up shipments for destruction. These efforts were in consideration of our budget and minimizing our losses. Show less Upon completion of BTP, I was placed in the Warehouse as a Logistics Group Manager. In this role, I directed labor to support our production goals and achieve Logistics KPIs. Daily responsibilities included fulfilling and shipping out orders, receiving material to the brewery, and managing dunnage for reverse logistics. In a highly automated warehouse, this required advanced time management and consistent review of open orders based on trailer and product availability. I managed elevated floor inventory and helped perform reconciliation monthly. I implemented a handful of tools to increase efficiency such as the Spotter Communication Terms of Reference (TOR) - a document used to breakdown various items relevant to the contracted spotters and management: staffing, trailer availability, open orders, performance, etc. I also published multiple SOPs, OPLs, and Reaction Plans during my time in the warehouse. Additionally, I was the HACCP Team Representative for the Logistics Department; I routinely performed internal PRP audits around the warehouse to improve our GMPs. As a Defender of Quality, I played a key part in our Brewery Excellence Program (BEP) Audit for the Logistic's Quality Pillar. I was also an advocate for safety and led the salaried staff in EHS monitoring in the calendar year. All the while, the Baldwinsville Logistics team earned a Top 3 finish in the 2021 North America Zone Logistics Masters Cup - further exemplifying our commitment to excellence. My experience with the Logistics Department was invaluable and allowed me to strengthen my skills as a manager and leader. Show less The Brewery Training Program (BTP) was an opportunity that provided me with an in-depth overview of AB InBev's Supply operation. Over the course of several months, I learned the business of brewing, packaging, and shipping all ABI products. As the program progressed, I was given a full overview of each department in Supply and took on additional projects such as earning my White Belt in Lean Six Sigma. Following the completion of BTP, managerial role placement was determined based upon the need of the brewery. At the onset of the COVID19 pandemic, I was privileged to be placed in the Baldwinsville Brewery to learn, work and grow professionally in this Program. As I shadowed experienced mentors across the Brewery, I absorbed the pace, dedication and hard work required for manufacturing and prepared for my next step in Baldwinsville. Show less
