PhD graduate in molecular biology and genetics, at The University of Sheffield. The primary focus of my research is investigating ciliogenesis, whereby defects in cilia lead to a number of syndromes, such as Joubert syndrome and Meckel syndrome. I also research retinal defects, particularly the photoreceptor cells and how photoreceptor degeneration is affected in different mutants, using zebrafish as a model organism. The primary focus of my research is investigating ciliogenesis, whereby defects in cilia lead to a number of syndromes, such as Joubert syndrome and Meckel syndrome. I also research retinal defects, particularly the photoreceptor cells and how photoreceptor degeneration is affected in different mutants, using zebrafish as a model organism. I have managed multiple projects successfully and presented the work at international conferences, and published my work in international journals, and book chapters. Outside of research I was a teaching assistant for two terms or undergraduate students. I have volunteered at science events to general public, to communicate and raise awareness of the importance of research to the general public.I have also formed a team with fellow PhD students to participate in Entrepreneurial Business Competitions.
