  I supported the Kaduna State Ministry of Health to reduce maternal and child mortality by increasing demand for maternal and child health services. My scope included working at the policy level to ensure policies are approved to establish systems of governance and to strengthen and institutionalize strategic communications structures within these institutions. I also worked with high level policy makers to institutionalize the interventions by integrating these tasks into the job description of the Health Education Team.At the service delivery point, I designed and managed the implementation of a state demand creation and mobilization for social approval campaign on maternal and child health services. I oversaw the production of radio spots and media materials for the Northern Supported States. I directly line managed a team of 6 State level Consultants and over a 100 LGA level consultants. We built the capacity of Government officials at the State and LGA level to implement and manage demand creation interventions. My team significantly increased demand for maternal health across PATHS2 supported facilities in the 23 LGAs of Kaduna State by working with stakeholders and policy makers to address the major barriers responsible for maternal deaths.
