To achieve this goal I examine the three essential components that affect communication on MySpace: the architecture of the site itself, identity presentation, and audience reception. Through the examination of specific communicative acts on MySpace with the theory of Dramatism, it is revealed that legitimate communication and therefore consubstantiality is not possible. The type of communication that is occurring on the Internet, and is being fostered by MySpace, is what I have termed crowded isolation, which refers to many individuals acting in the same place (MySpace) at the same time, but not with each other. This work argues that crowded isolation is the norm and cannot sustain legitimate communication or lead MySpace users to consubstantiality. Show less

Despite colleges making strides to meet this demand, students taking online classes struggle to succeed. This paper examines the extant research on microlearning as a methodology to provide just-in-time support to students in online classes and focuses on the design and evaluation of two digital instructional products as concept examples of microlearning-based just-in-time support. The application of cognitive learning and cognitive load theories supports the aim of the digital instructional products to reduce the effort of learning and assist students to create meaning and knowledge. The goal of this project is to demonstrate how microlearning-based just-in-time support can increase student persistence and success in college courses. Show less

The Mareotic Region is understood to be of historical and archaeological significance and yet, to date there has been no published account of the full extent of the lake in antiquity, its archaeological sites, and the significance of these sites in relation to each other and the city of Alexandria with the specific aim of determining the extent and scope of the relationship between the lake and the city.
