Chief Hydrographer supervising a workforce composed of 100 Civilian, 14 Military personnel.Conduct bathymetric and hydrographic survey utilizing 6 T-AGS ships.Mr. Harrison served in the United States Coast Guard from 1974 through 1978, and then worked in the Louisiana oil fields 1978 to 1980.Although now residing in southern Mississippi, Mr. Harrison is originally from New Orleans, LA. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in physics in 1985 and a Master of Science degree in Physics (concentration in underwater acoustics) in 1989, both degrees from the University of New Orleans. In 2000, he earned a Master of Science degree in Marine Sciences (concentration in Hydrography, IHO FIG Cat A) from the University of Southern Mississippi. Mr. Harrison began his civilian service in 1987 with the Naval Oceanographic Office in the Underwater Acoustics Division of the Geophysics Department as a Physicist where he specialized in underwater acoustic data collection systems. In 2000, after successfully completing his 2nd master’s Degree in Hydrographic Sciences “IHO-FIG Cat “A””, he joined the Hydrographic Department, Nautical Charting Division as Branch Head, Tactical Charting Branch. After a four year period as Navigation Division Director, he attained the position of Department Director, Navigation Department in 2009. He has served in this capacity to present. His major accomplishment is transforming the Department, now the Hydrographic Department, to better serve the U.S. Navy with modern charting products based on high resolution gridded navigation surfaces. Finally, during his time at NAVOCEANO, Mr. Harrison has participated in more than 30 Oceanographic/Hydrographic surveys. Show less

www.hhando.comAfter a 32 year career in federal service, I have transitioned to private industry. I wish to make potential clients aware of my availability.I’ve spent the last 29 years at the United States Naval Oceanographic Office.Fields of concentration included 14 years in ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare) as a specialist in underwater acoustics. Expertise lie in the physics associated with underwater sound propagation and associated instrumentation. Specifically the development, design, deployment/recovery and processing of acoustic data and collection systems. In year 15, I moved to the Hydrographic Department after receiving my second Master of Science degree in Hydrographic Sciences. This degree provided the academic requirements for FIG-IHO Category “A” Certification. In eight years, achieved the position of Hydrographic Department Director (since 2009) and led the evolution to total digital navigation data support to Navy. Our team helped develop and make “operational” Ellipsoid Reference Surveying (on a large scale), new surveying operation procedures, navigation surfaces for product delivery and a new data management/data flow process to respond to the ever increasing data volumes associated with hydrography. This change in process was in large part due to “leading change” and developing teams able to execute mission requirements. Show less
