Station keeping power units of the SVANEN consisted of,aft, 2 each of 1250 kw, LIPS 360 degree azimuthing thrusters, electricmotor drive; forward, 2 each of 630 kw tunnel thrusters + 2 each of 1850 kwJIMECAL 360 degree azimuthing thrusters, diesel drive. The Simrad Robertson RDP 600 system is a single 486 computer system with four modes of operation including Auto Position, Auto Tracking, Autohead Joystick and Manual Joystick. The chosen mode operates by means of active control of selected thrusters. Three axis joystick control and 360 degree heading maintenance is capable from the control stand at the aft end of the wheelhouse. The RDP 600 system maintains the vessel on station using position information obtained from one of two reference sources. The remaining source is then selected as the secondary position information source. Position reference inputs are DGPS and TR-GGK. Other inputs include wind speed and direction plus vessel speed and heading. Show less
