Researched, initiated and managed an HPLC based method development for determination of the active components in hot pepper fruits.Developed and implemented quantitative HPLC separation method to determine the amount of capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin at different seasons (summer, winter) and stages (green, yellow and red) of pepper fruit ripening using UV detection.

    • University of Georgia

      Aug 2009 - May 2014
      Research Assistant

Developed innovative methods for structural determination of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) using mass spectrometry, ion mobility and statistical techniques that enabled;(a) Challenging structural elucidation of highly sulfated GAGs such as pharmaceutical drug Arixtra.(b) Separation and characterization of isomeric GAGs that are otherwise difficult to separate using traditional LC and CE methods.(c) Principal component analysis (PCA) to differentiate and identify specific diagnostic ions from information rich EDD and CID spectra of isomeric oligosaccharides.Designed efficient method development for enzymatic protein digestion for FT-ICR analysis using ECD, CID and IRMPD that enabled sequence determination using web-based databases.Trained and guided graduate, undergraduate interns and visiting scholars on how to use, troubleshoot, and solve problems related to the operation of FT-ICR and how to analyze data.Successfully participated in interdisciplinary research collaborations with scientist at Complex Carbohydrate Research Center (University of Georgia, Athens, GA), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, NY) and Bruker Daltonics (Billerica, MA).
