Robert generated Requirements Documents from Marketing and Sales and responded with Functional Specifications and High-level Designs of products that fulfill the market and sales needs. In his capacity as Systems Architect, Robert wrote several White Papers describing the technical points of product development for telephony. He traveled with Product Managers, Senior Management, and the Chief Executive Officer as a subject matter expert. As a Project Leader for PSi Robert initiated and led the VME Evaluation Research Project. This project was initiated by Senior Management in response to a White Paper written by Robert. Outgrowths of this project include in-house development of an Sbus board, improved DSP board design, and a restructuring of the architecture of the system to use open software and hardware paradigms. Other White Papers by Robert caused changes to the system to support Bellcore redundancy requirements. In addition to the tasks performed in this project, Robert also became a member of the ANSI committee for VME64 extensions (ANSI/VITA 6-1994), and presented of the uses of the Signal Computing Systems Architecture (SCSA) on VME at the 1993 Worldwide SCSA Conference in Orlando, Florida.Robert co-managed the massive Master Control Processor project, conducting and managing research teams and projects. Robert's additional qualifications include proficiency in Assembler language programming in real-time embedded 32-bit microprocessor systems with Direct Memory Access, interrupt driven peripheral device drivers, multi-tasking and state machine design paradigm, knowledge and experience of communications simulation and monitoring equipment, in-circuit emulators, logic analyzers, experience with project scheduling, management and design, as well as software engineering team management, and experience specifically with Intel CISC processors, X.25 derivatives, TCP/IP, Ethernet, SCSI, telephony and fault tolerant systems. Jan 1993 - Jan 2003
      Member of the Technical Staff

Robert rearchitected the user interface for the Remote Insight Lights Out Edition. His work resulted in one pending patent. The new interface paradigm:● Is significantly faster and more usable● Simplifies translation and localization effort● Requires less memory● Allows the web page design to occur independent of the embedded engineeringAs Lead Engineer in the Third-party Systems Management Integration team, Robert delivered the Compaq Insight Manager for Tivoli Enterprise v1.50. This rush project was completed on time and under budget. As Systems Architect and Acting Manager in Small and Medium Business Solutions Division, Robert architected and developed:● Solutions Architect website● Software Build Delivery for Small Value-add Resellers (VARS)● Configure to order QuickRestore for Direct PlusThe Solutions Architect website was very popular in the UK. It is one of the few instances of Artificial Intelligence (Fuzzy Logic) written in JavaScript. The research for Solutions Advisor resulted in one issued and four other patent applications. As a Researcher in Commercial Software Planning and Research, Robert researched:● Speech Recognition● Cryptography● Next Generation User Interfaces● Wavetable Synthesis● Optical Enabling Technologies for Magnetic Media● DSP for Host Processors● Set-top Computer Platforms● NTSC Video for Computers● Remote Software Download and Installation● Memory type identification● Power-down Inhibit (U.S. Patent 5,925,131)● Ultra ATI and SATA protocol● Incremental Editor Technology (U.S. Patent 5,963,939 )● Other patents applied for and trade secretsThe impact of his research was widespread. Robert became a subject matter expert for speech technologies, cryptography, and optical enabling technologies for several projects across the engineering divisions of Compaq. Robert's timely White Papers and Presentations saved Compaq untold time and money. Show less

    • United Mechanical, LP

      Jan 2001 - Jan 2010
      Consultant

As a consultant to Cascade Manufacturing, LP, Robert conceived and developed a multi-zone HVAC control system with peer-enabled thermostats, and load-shedding web-based system controller for the Cascade Energy Saver. The peer-enabled thermostats allow a user to control the system and changes thermostat settings from any other thermostat. Robert handled all aspects of architecture, design, and development engineering, for the hardware, firmware, and web pages, and oversaw the construction and testing of the hardware. The system is installed in high-end homes in the greater Houston and Dallas areas saving homeowners thousands of dollars every year. The latest version continues to improve the original design (U.S. patent 6,792,766):● Microcontroller based, peer-enabled thermostats with user friendly multi-line LCD display● Web-based Ethernet interface allows wireless network, or Internet system control● Load-shedding to achieve highest possible SEER rating● PCM motor control maximizes energy savings● Compressor usage leveling is expected to improve compressor MTBF and system efficiency Show less
