  In 1986 Nick co-founded Serendal Research Institute — a firm that specialized in the practical application of process improvement and quality management tools to assist business owners, managers and corporate executives with data-based decisions. As Serendal’s principle information architect, Nick focused on the science of information acquisition, interpretation, and processing. He worked to help people understand complex by subjects, by turning raw data into graphic-information, constructing illustrations and scientific visualizations. With the use words, diagrams, type, information sequencing, data structures, 3D and animated models, Nick convert masses of numbers into relevant and useful information.As Serendal Research Institute’s principal information architect, Nick focused on the science of information acquisition, interpretation, and processing. He was responsible for all information design – assuring the message content and language was clear, unambiguous and understandable. He has many years of experience working with business teams and IT Departments defining business objectives, identifying and mapping existing processes, and designing improved ones. His quality systems experience with Defense and Aerospace helps him lead effective Discovery sessions that guide the Pleiades team and our clients in collecting the data and analyzing the information needed to structure complex interactive data within the design framework.   Nick Batik, co-founded Pleiades Publishing Services in 1992. As CTO, he brought his extensive skills as design engineer, database architect, and business process analyst to our clients.A Co-Organizer of the Austin WordPress Meetup, he’s been building websites since 1994, and a WordPress back-end developer since 2007. Nick specializes in the system design and implementation of custom, often complex, WordPress-based solutions that address client data management issues. He has dedicated his professional career to information architecture. Nick created massive mainframe databases in the 1970s, helped publishing companies migrate to database-driven publishing in the 1980s, and has been connecting databases to the web since the 1990s. Understanding there is a purpose to data as well as a cost to acquire and maintain it, he has focused on the science of preparing information so that it can be used efficiently and effectively.Nick invests the time needed to observe client business processes in action and meet the key stakeholders of the project. He applies his skills as a business process analyst to interpret those business requirements into the information architecture of the new or updated website. As a back-end developer, he creates the core computational logic of the website or information system to implement the customized functionality. His technical capabilities include analysis of complex systems for computerization. Nick has written numerous training courses, articles and seminars on design, and publishing. He has lectured at publishing conferences and in-house seminars in over 100 cities across the US, England, and Scandinavia. He has also presented at numerous Technical Conferences, WordCamps and WordPress Meet-ups, as well as developing and teaching technical WordPress classes for Hands-On WordPress Training.He writes extensively and has had both management and technical articles published. Additionally, Nick has written and contributed to a number of quality management and statistical process management articles and books.A passionate proponent of life-long learning and continuous personal improvement, Nick wants to understand and then share contextual issues.
