  As the Founder of SLYO, Aruni has been instrumental in the development and expansion of the organization. Since its inception in 2011, Aruni has worked to establish SLYO chapters in the USA, Canada, England, and Sri Lanka, with a focus on providing support and resources for at-risk youth in these communities. She has also led strategic planning efforts to ensure that each chapter operates efficiently and effectively, utilizing data-driven feedback from youth, vendors, and volunteers. In addition, Aruni has fostered a strong sense of cultural diversity within the organization, and has worked to ensure consistent quality in finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems.Aruni has also played a key role in the development and support of SLYO's volunteers, board members, event committees, and partnering organizations. She has recommended initiatives and resources to help achieve the organization's strategic goals, and has worked to build board involvement with strategic direction for ongoing local operations and the national rollout. Furthermore, Aruni has led, coached, and developed SLYO's high-performance youth management team, and has ensured effective systems to track progress and regularly evaluate program components.
