International Export Services and Supply Chain management.I designed over 200 online service measurement programs, collaborated with professional programmers and technical writers to create an interactive menu-driven report application available to more than 50 3M International locations.I designed an interactive online sales statics program for U.S. Export Sales offices, and trained the staff in five branch locations, and at 3M Israel, to generate their own customized reports. I provided service measurement support to a multi-discipline supply chain team including 3M Medical-Surgical Divisions, and 3M International companies in Japan and Europe. The early part of my career involved frequent contact with the U.S Commerce Department to comply with Export Control Regulations, and licensing of exports to all parts of the globe. I worked with 3M executives in Washington, D.C and St. Paul to open trade with the People's Republic of China in the 1970'sBeginning in 1973, I worked with the Census Bureau in Washington, D.C., and 3M IT programmers in St. Paul to convert a paper-based export documentation process to a monthly digital reporting system. I advised 3M companies around the world on the classification of products according to the Brussels Nomenclature, for customs entry and payment of tariffs. I classified products to meet hazardous materials shipping regulations for international transportation. All of these classification and advisory skills required detailed analysis statements on thousands of individual products. I consulted daily with 3M marketing, chemical engineering, and patent experts, as well as my counterparts in overseas locations. Show less

      May 2001 - Oct 2010
      Historic Site Interpreter

I worked a part time seasonal job at Split Rock Lighthouse Historic Site, located about 40 miles northeast of Duluth on Lake Superior. The centennial season in 2010 required that I engage groups of nearly 100 visitors, and one-on-one intepretation. More than 135,000 visitors paid for the experience. Another 5,000 were there for the "Big Birthday" celebration on July 31, including Lighthouse Keepers, and a couple of hundred descendents of the first two Keepers at Split rock.My coworkers were among the most knowledgeable historians in the region. I applied my experience in weather, climate, environment, geology, commerce, and international supply chain management to the presentation of the basic facts.I found volunteer opportunities at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul, local historical societies, public schools, and non-profit organizations as a result of my employment at Split Rock.
