Steve began his career as a Children's Protective Services caseworker. From there he went into program management for youth and health services, managing large federal contracts for program impact and budgetary compliance.Desiring more in-depth and scientific grounding for his work, he returned to graduate school. • Korn Ferry Hay Group

      Jan 1995 - Jun 2001
      Senior Consultant

Steve moved into executive development work when he went to work for Personnel Decisions International, which was later acquired by Korn Kerry Hay Group. Although the goals of consulting are very different from clinical work, the deep understanding of human development, relationship, and personality are useful in working with clients in either setting.

    • Texas Instruments

      Jun 2001 - Feb 2007
Global Manager of Assessment and Coaching Services

Steve was the client manager for Texas Instruments, the largest client of his previous employer. During the period of "irrational exuberance" in 1999 and 2000, TI recruited Steve to lead its global leadership development effort. Within his first six months at TI, the exuberance ended with the great tech and telecom crash. After assisting in reducing TI's workforce, he worked with his team to drastically reduce the costs of training and leadership development, including a zero-budget, cost-recovery business model. He developed and delivered innovative programs across the US, Europe, and Asia. He was instrumental in deploying a unauthorized SharePoint server to manage a worldwide leadership development program for the Wireless Terminals Business Unit. TI IT services finally reversed their position and started to support SharePoint when it became clear that this server and others set up by other TI employees were providing a vital and cost-saving service to the company. Steve also introduced experiential cross-cultural training into TI leadership development programs, the first of which was recognized in the TI 75th Anniversary Commemorative book. Show less

    • OutMatch HCM

      Feb 2007 - Sept 2014
      Vice President, Leadership Solutions

Steve joined Assess Systems, an OutMatch predecessor company, because he wanted to help grow a SaaS software company to enhance and revolutionize the services of I/O Psychology across the world. As leader of executive services, he worked to bring modern IT services into a traditional service area. For example, he founded the Assess Systems Talent Cloud, a global network of independent consultants who were united on large international projects and managed through social media tools such as Google Sites, Blogger, and Google Apps. Merlin Systems, the private equity company that acquired Assess Systems, trademarked the name and were pleased to provide high touch service by highly qualified professionals without assuming more payroll costs.
