  Internship focusing on the digital preservation and management of the museum’s BGE Print and Negative Collection. The collection consists of over 50,000 glass-plate and sheet film negatives, photographic prints, their corresponding digital assets, and physical and digital object records. Reconciled lists of deaccessioned negatives with their digitized surrogates and object records in PastPerfect.Located BGE images across various legacy media and the institutional shared drive, established a file naming convention, and organized them into a logical folder structure for staff access and outside researchers.Presented a series of recommendations on the continued care of the collection, including procedures on continued reconciliation of the collection; standardizing procedures for file names, image capture, and asset storage; digitization procedures for objects based on an assessment of their physical state, including deaccessioning procedures for exponentially deteriorating acetate negatives.   Digital Archives Virtual Internship

  Virtual internship for one of Montana’s premier county museums. In 2019, the Carter County Museum digitized their Founder’s Archive: 6,000 letters, documents and scrapbooks from 1930-1990 as a resource for museum staff, researchers, and the populace at large to explore the first sixty years of the museum’s history. During the digitization process, however, the documents were scanned out of order, with no file-naming convention established. The project was to rectify this.Organized and cataloged the collection according to institutional guidelines.Developed a virtual exhibit on the Montana Memory Project, a digital aggregate service for the state of Montana: https://mtmemory.org/digital/collection/p16013coll105Presented a series of recommendations for the continued care of digital assets, including institutional file naming convention, organizational structure, standard metadata captures, use of controlled vocabularies, and environmentally sustainable digital preservation practices.
