Primary responsibilities are collaboration with faculty governance; the development, implementation, and interpretation of policies, especially with regard to faculty personnel matters; and academic space planning. Additional domains include innovation initiatives, effective communications, efficient practices, mentoring of new administrative leaders, and serving as the appointing officer for the GVSU Art Gallery. Teaching college-level courses in pure and applied mathematics. Research in applied mathematics. PI or co-PI on NSF grants for undergraduate research in mathematics. Service to university and national community, including leadership on Mathematical Association of America and American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) committees. Awards include GVSU's Outstanding Teacher Award (2006), GVSU's Niemeyer Award (2013), AAAS Fellow (2017). Primary responsibilities are the development, implementation, and interpretation of policies, especially with regard to faculty; collaboration with faculty governance; academic space planning; and special projects with the external community. Additional focus on efficient practices and effective communication. Appointing Officer for the GVSU Art Gallery. Acting Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, June-July 2022. Serving in the Office of the Provost, my primary focus is policy and practices, particularly related to faculty success and the University Academic Senate, as well as representing Academic Affairs in discussions of facilities and space.
