      Graduate researcher

My project focused on immunological background for pregnancy complications and miscarriage, in particular on the rejection of placental tissue by maternal immune cells. The study involved JEG-3 (trophoblast) and NK-92MI (Natural killer) cell lines.I received an intensive training in mammalian cell culture maintenance, cryopreservation and thawingI learned to isolate primary trophoblast cells from placental tissue and examine cytotoxicity and adhesion rate of NK cells towards trophoblast using Flow Cytometry. I acquired intensive hands-on Flow Cytometry experience during this project. Based on our findings within this project, we developed and patented a diagnostic test of cytotoxicity of peripheral blood mononuclear cells against trophoblast cell line. This test allows to diagnose predisposition for pregnancy complications and miscarriage and prevent worthless IVF attempts. Show less

A level chemistry and biology tutor (edexcel)

I was tutoring school graduates to prepare for Advanced level qualification examination in Biology and Chemistry. A level is a qualification within General Certificate of Education system required for university enrollment internationally. Within this experience I learned interactive way of teaching and it was my first long-term teaching experience in English. I have structured and handled both programmes in accordance with Edexcel International Advanced Level qualification standards.

My current project is focused on the role of complement regulator factor H in pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease and atherosclerosis. I learned to:organize my project work independentlyplan and report performed assaysanalyze obtained data and connect it with existing informationpurify proteins and optimize protein purification process from yeast P. pastoris using AKTA purification systemperform protein interaction assays, such as microscale thermophoresis and ELISAperform kinetic fluorescent assay studying enzyme activityperform competitive fluorescent assays Show less I studied the crosstalk between different members of the β2 family of integrins. My project focused on cross-regulation between β2 leukocyte integrins. Within that project I learned to plan and handle research independently, mastered experiment design, student supervision and various methods:- transient transfection of T cell line by electroporation- molecular cloning and affinity purification of ICAM-5-Fc and ITGAD-His fusion soluble proteins - functional assays: static, flow and iCelligence adhesion assays, phagocytosis assay- Immune precipitation, Immunoblotting, Immunofluorescence, FACS and ELISA Show less

CIMO scholarship for postgraduate researchers Finnish National Agency for Education Apr 2016 I was awarded an 18 month CIMO scholarship to perform research project in the leukocyte adhesion and signalling group leaded by Carl Gahmberg in University of Helsinki. This scholarship is awarded to 20 top researchers from Russia and Ukraine yearly by Finnish Ministry of Education (now EDUFI). Our project focused on the crosstalk between integrins of beta2 family, LFA-1 and MAC-1 in particular. Within the framework of this project I have joined Carl Gahmberg group as a postgraduate student.
