  As the Fire Code Committee Chair, I lead a cooperative effort of government employees, design professionals, subject matter experts and contractors to improve consistency and standardization in the adoption and enforcement of the International Fire Code in central Iowa communities. This committee is a part of a group that represents 17 communities and 1 county organized to review, adopt and enforce construction codes.Complete inspections of new construction projects and occupancy remodels to ensure that life safety systems are installed according to approved plans and currently adopted model codes.Led a new cooperative fire drill program with the public school district that uses lesson plans to make sure that fire drills are purposeful and relevant for elementary and middle school children.Member of the Metro Media Council as the department’s Public Information Officer.
