      Library Director

Collection development (ongoing selection and maintenance of the facility's collections of books, audiovisual materials, etc. to maximize the usefulness of the library to the service population); Communication (producing an ongoing series of reports to the library’s board of trustees; maintaining the library’s Facebook page, updating the library’s website, and producing an annual statistical report for GPLS; Financial/budget management (administering funds from local government agencies, as well as a monthly grant from the Georgia Public Library Service, plus special purpose grants/bequests; working with the board of trustees on an annual budget and working to remain within that budget each year) (NOTE: Hart County Library has come in under budget for most of my tenure, and we typically receive no adverse audit findings. Despite budget cuts, we have not laid off staff nor have we reduced our hours of operation); Information technology oversight (responsible for seeing that Internet/data connectivity is maintained for all systems used by library staff and library customers); Personnel management (administering and deploying a staff of two full-time and seven part-time staff members); Public relations (maintaining partnerships with the Friends of the Library and other local agencies, as well as distributing information about the library and its programs, especially in, but not limited to, the library’s service area); Resource management (selection of donated materials and other items; seeking out low-cost/no-cost materials, equipment, and furnishings; working with the local Board of Commissioners to maintain the library building).NOTE: HART COUNTY LIBRARY WAS NAMED "GEORGIA PUBLIC LIBRARY OF THE YEAR" FOR 2016 BY THE GEORGIA PUBLIC LIBRARY SERVICE. WE'VE RECEIVED COMMENDATIONS FROM THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, FROM THE GOVERNOR, AND FROM OUR CONGRESSMAN, WHOSE STATEMENT WAS READ INTO THE RECORD OF THE 115TH CONGRESS. COULD NOT BE PROUDER OF MY TEAM!
