So far i have taken body composition measurements using different techniques; circumferences, ratios, bio-electric impedance, skinfolds and hydrostatic weighing. Along side this we have been running physiological tests studying neuromuscular physiology by using an EMG.We have measured cardiovascular response, using and ECG, to varying workloads light, moderate and hard. In this experiment we also had to take blood pressure readings at intervals before, during and after the exercise. 4th Year: The second half of my 4th year is a research module. For this project I am looking at 7 SNP's on the Y chromosome of elite Lithuanian athletes and seeing wither or not the expression can be used as a determinant of strength. Show less

      Student Researcher

During my University years I had the opportunity to work beside Dr Iain Gallagher in the tissue culture and analytical labs of the Sport Science Department at the University of Stirling. Since being in the labs I have been involved with tissue culture, RNA/ DNA/ Protein extraction(using trizole) and nano drop analysis. I was culturing HSMM ( Human Skeletal Muscle Myoblasts) to harvest and use for my experiment. I was treating the cells with with a mixture of TNF, dexamethasone, capsazepine and a control with nothing added. We hypothesised that the cells treated with capsazepine would appear larger under the microscope and have a higher gene expression of myoG. We were able to treat the cells and extract the RNA, DNA and proteins by using trizole. Show less

I spent time at university fairs talking more about the US Summer Camp experience interacting everyday with potential applicants. Though I do not work if SCJA full time at the moment, there are still applicants coming through the system. Even in 4 months I managed to create a brand that people could trust and apply to.
