Gathered business requirements, developed and tested business-critical mainframe software written with PL/I + DB2 databases.• Designed and created programs that provisioned the necessary login IDs to corporate computing systems for new hires. The changes to the on-boarding process required coordination with Human Resources and finance teams. The new process provisioned ids for new hires by 12:00 pm on the day the new hire started. Previously, a new hire had to wait over a week for access to email, desktop, and mainframe applications. • Created and drove detailed project requirements and daily operations plans for two business-critical mainframe systems, DB2 databases, and Sun connectivity servers running DB2 Connect. • Actively participated in all aspects of the development lifecycle of a web-based application.• Often unified the team by successfully presenting a compromising position when differing approaches were presented. • American Museum of Natural History

      Oct 2018 - Aug 2024

Supporting the data management needs of the American Museum of Natural History’s children and youth education programs. Requests are completed with a high level of precision, tested, and well documented. Solutions are provided – not excuses!• Automated the data entry of student information by creating a Visual Basic macro within Microsoft Excel. The program cleanses and standardizes the information before executing the appropriate SQL commands against an Access database. The resulting automation reduced data entry time for ~2,600 students from 8 - 9 weeks by multiple museum volunteers to 1 - 2 days by one person.• Collaborated with different stakeholders in Education to determine their procedural pain points. The created programs and processes addressed their issues by automating the reconciliation of class rosters with registration and payment details. The programming decreased the reconciliation time from hours to minutes. The new processes also helped the receivables process by quickly identifying missing payments and enabled faster creation of program metrics. • Introduced data integrity and cleanliness into systems where duplicate students, households, schools, and application details were common. The data integrity is maintained largely by the well thought out logic incorporated in the data entry macros.• Improved the customer’s form completion experience by choosing Qualtrics question elements that work well on both mobile and desktop devices. Template literals were frequently employed throughout the forms to personalized the customer’s question and the readability of the form was enhanced by utilizing CSS to format the appearance of text.
