      My dissertation dissertation research project focused on the links between the assumptions and values of our ‘worldview’, the root causes of the ecological crisis, human-nature relationships, and the valuing of indigenous or other types of knowledge in the sustainability movement. My research involved interviewing 10 leading sustainable business people and thinkers in the UK. In 2016/17 I completed a 'Year in Industry'.

      Selected as a 'Young Champion'​ for the Lake District area (unpaid role). This required using photography and media to inspire other young people to conserve, explore and enjoy our natural environment.I taught myself photography skills and was coached by Joe Cornish, one of the UK's best Landscape Photographers.

      Project Trust Volunteer Teacher

      Full time Secondary School Mathematics teacher for Grades 11, 10 and 9, academic year 2013/14.- Prepared 100 - 120 Grade 11 students, aged 15 - 18, for their CXC Maths exams. I had to adapt and learn a curriculum containing some unfamiliar topics not taught at GCSE or A Level Maths in the UK. I ran extra classes, and helped one student achieve the equivalent of a B grade (a rare result in Region 8).- Prepared 60 Grade 9 students for their National Examinations.- After the Grade 11 graduation I taught Grade 10 classes (who had not been taught Maths all year) in preparation for their CXC exams the following year.- Helped to coach athletics and provided pastoral support. - Learnt about the tribes history, language (Patamona), customs, food and surroundings (a mountainous, rainforest area).- Explored other parts of Guyana and spent time volunteering at Dadanawa Ranch (Rupununi Savannah) which involved cleaning, cooking, horse riding and cattle herding.       Student Orienteering Activator for the Sports England funded Get Out Get Active program.This program aims to inspire students of all abilities to try new outdoor sports.Roles involved: Planning and running Orienteering events, advertising the program and events, contributing marketing strategy ideas, gaining new participants, and recording participant data.I also created a promotional video which is used for marketing purposes (link below).

      Peebles Community Action Network (Peebles CAN) is a 3rd sector organisation focused on community resilience and climate action. Examples of their projects include community gardening and cooking projects, a social enterprise Deli/cafe, climate change art/design projects, and a home energy project. - Ran a climate change engagement art project, ending in an exhibition of a 10 metre wall hanging painted by groups in the community, to represent information from Mike Berners-Lee's book 'How Bad are Bananas'.- Assisted in managing the Leaven Deli. This helped struggling young people to gain employability skills. I helped to organise and support staff, taught cooking skills, and managed it's online presence. - Worked with Red House Design to update the Peebles CAN website. Show less

      - Data research and analysis of the global food system. This involved sourcing and organising large banks of data to fit into our modelling system. This contributed to research paper 'Current global food production is sufficient to meet human nutritional needs in 2050 provided there is radical societal adaptation', see 'Publications' section.- Edited and contributed ideas to a not-yet-published book on climate change and the anthropocene (continued involvement beyond the length of the internship)- Assisted with the organisation of the Global Futures events, part of the Institute for Social Futures at Lancaster University. These events stimulate multidisciplined, big picture thinking about climate change and have included speakers such as Chris Goodhall (auther of The Switch) and Stewart Wallis.- Assisted with organising the online presence of Global Futures Show less

      CARBON: I led INOV8's first carbon footprinting exercise, and set carbon reduction targets through a workshop with the senior team and our supporting consultants. I broke these down into action plans with the teams sitting in the 'hotspot' areas (product, distribution). CIRCULARITY: I set up and managed 'RENOV8', a profitable repair, resale and recycling program for unwanted and faulty kit, liaising between our warehouse, stores, marketing team and repair professionals to get this off the ground. CHEMICALS & LEGISLATION: I updated our Chemicals Management strategy, and mapped out all legislation that would affect the business in the coming years, with action planning around this. Show less
