      Research Scientist

As part of my PhD research at Charité Universitätsmedizin and the MDC, I focus on developing advanced data-driven methodologies for ultra-high-field (7T) functional MRI (fMRI) analysis. My work bridges data science, and statistical modeling to extract meaningful insights from complex neuroimaging datasets. In the first phase of my research, I developed the AWSOM filter, an innovative fMRI denoising algorithm designed to significantly enhance signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) by up to 70%, while keeping false positive rates below 0.05%. This project involved extensive statistical validation, Python and Matlab programming, and large-scale data processing, ensuring robust and reproducible results. The AWSOM filter has been tested and published, providing a scalable tool for improving fMRI data quality in neuroscience research.Additionally, I investigate thermal stimulation-induced neurosignatures using hot and cold stimuli (18°C and 46°C) in 7T fMRI to characterize how individual brains process thermal perception. This project involves big data workflows, machine learning classification models, and advanced statistical analyses to decode neural patterns associated with pain and temperature processing.Through my work, I specialize in designing scalable data pipelines, optimizing machine learning models, and implementing reproducible computational methods to advance precision neuroimaging. I am passionate about leveraging data science and programming to uncover new insights into brain function while ensuring methodological rigor and computational efficiency. Show less
