  Project Manager -School Initiatives

  As a Project Manager – School Initiatives with AISECT [An implementation NGO], Krishanu was a core member of the vertical in the organization looking at kindergarten to 12th standard [K-12] education initiatives including management support of a K-12 school. Krishanu lead a team to ideate and launch a low –cost pre-school chain with its own pedagogy and curriculum based on Dr. Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligence theory. Also,Krishanu was involved in creation, product designing and implementation of a low-cost multimedia based teaching, testing and school management solution [K-12] aimed at both institutional and personal use. Krishanu also worked closely with Central Board of Secondary Education [CBSE] under the Ministry of Human Resource Development [MHRD], Government of India [GoI] to provide skill based courses to standard 9th-12th in addition to standard curriculum . For Rashtryia Adarsh Vidyalaya in PPP mode, Krishanu led the detailed project report and feasibility preparation for AISECT to set up schools in PPP mode with MHRD, GoI in educationally backward blocks in Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh.   Research on Improving Systems of Education (RISE)• As a part of the global initiative of RISE, I led the country wide US$ 5.6 million portfolio with Principal Investigators —Prof. Karthik Muralidharan, Prof. Abhijeet Singh, and Prof. Alejandro J. Ganimian . • Led the project’s aim of working closely with state governments and private sector in India to assist with the design, prototyping, implementation and evaluation of important system-wide reforms to improve education outcomes.• Lead manager for the research programme (with 4 separate constituent project operations across India) aims to lead to greater understanding about the reasons why changes intended to enhance student achievement work or fail - and to use these insights to inform policy globally.Learning Lab (LL)• LL is an ambitious initiative at led by Prof. Karthik Muralidharan and Prof. Alejandro J. Ganimian. It seeks to bring the rigor of experimental methods to the study of innovations in pedagogy to raise student learning in settings with low levels of income, parental education, and teacher capacity.• Lead manager for the $ 750,000 research programme (with 15 separate constituent evaluations across 3 years) to develop and execute a research agenda that will appeal not only to education specialists who are devoted to improving pedagogy, but also to economists and policy makers, by shedding light on policy questions related to human capital formation.   I lead the Data on Demand team at IDinsight. We are developing new approaches to survey data collection with the goal of making data collection radically faster and cheaper. In the past year we have scaled our system to eight Indian states and now regularly report to the Indian central government on how well services are being delivered to 60 million people. Over the next few years, we plan to expand across India and sub-Saharan Africa and we will continue working towards a future where nationally representative surveys can be completed in days, not years, for a small fraction of the status quo price.
