  During this time I completed my 4-year apprenticeship and was lucky enough to be offered a permanent contract with EIWHS. Whilst being with the company I have worked all over the country and have gained experience on a large variety of sites ranging from ICI Wilton to Corus Teesside, Stag brewery in London to chemical plants in Ellesmere Port and Rotherham. I also gained a small amount of experience in the oil and gas industry with EIWHS, and spent 20 months contributing to the electrical installation of 8 accommodation modules, these where being built onshore for the gulf of Mexico, and were being held in the former SLP yard in Middlesbrough.   Employed to oversee Construction and to ensure mechanical completion of systems before handing over to Commissioning. My duties where ensuring that all Instrument, Electrical, and Mechanical equipment were installed as per Layout drawing, P&ID and site specs. Raising and correcting any punch list items that where found, and overseeing a workforce of 10-20 Italians/Polish/Romanians of all trades depending on workscope. Raising permits for work needing to be completed and ensuring work was carried out to Exxon’s high safety standards. Late in the project I was transferred into the commissioning department to aid in the Electrical Commissioning of the High and Low Voltage Switchgear, testing equipment, completing load and no-load runs when required and verifying drawings as per installation for final red line mark ups. My main duty was to inspect both electrical and instrument equipment and carry out a detailed Ex inspection and complete relevant documentation to IEC 60079 standards. Supervision of a group of local tradesman including Russian/Turkish and Phillipinos completing any remedial works required (Ex and QA/QC). Heavily involved in importing information from Thule and Infoworks to compile the Ex index and dossier sub-system files. When called upon I also stood in as Ex team lead, attending meetings and overseeing the construction workscope. Qualified in the Shell ISSOW system I controlled all permits, raising them when needed and attending permit planning meetings.I was transferred into the Electrical commissioning department, where myself and a group of local technicians under my supervision carried out pre commissioning and commissioning activities on equipment ranging from heat trace to lighting circuits based on our system schedule. I was also assessed and passed as an Electrical Isolating Authority by the site REP. Show less

  During my time at petrofac I have been on numerous offshore installations working on Construction projects ranging from Sub Sea Tie-ins to Power Generation Upgrades. These projects consisted of general electrical work. De-commissioning and stripping out of old systems, re-installing new lighting, Fire & Gas, and PA systems, High voltage feeder cables, glanding terminating and testing cables upon completion. Installation of routing such as cable tray and cable rack.
