  • Independent duty as command’s only Data Systems Technician. Solely responsible for administration of Joint Maritime Command Information System (JMCIS) consisting of 9 HPUX Servers and one Cisco Router.• Built command’s first office network using Windows NT Server with Exchange 5.0 and Windows 98 Clients giving the command internal and external email and greatly increasing organizational communication and efficiency.• Earned Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for temporarily integrating the command’s JMCIS fiber token ring network with networks from other Armed Forces and performing full end-to-end operational testing to determine the system’s functionality into the year 2000. This successful testing ensured the Navy’s systems could meet mission requirements into and beyond the year 2000. Show less

  • Responsible for the supervision and training of 4 System Administrators and the management of 3 networks comprised of 6 Unix Servers, 4 Windows Servers, and over 400 Workstations.• Built and integrated 2 Intrusion Detection Systems and re-wrote router Access Control Lists from scratch. Specifically cited as having the most secure network in the Harry S. Truman Battle Group. During testing, all intrusion attempts were detected and reported, none of which were successful intrusions. • Upgraded and maintained the command’s intranet and public websites.   • Earned a Defense Meritorious Service Medal during this one year Deployment to Iraq for an out-of-specialty job. Self taught Radio Frequency Management on the spot to accomplish my mission: Managed over 5,000 mission essential radio frequencies throughout Iraq to support both U.S. and Iraqi Security Forces’ communications, and provided mentorship and guidance to Iraqi frequency managers.• Implemented and chaired the first ever Iraqi Security Forces Frequency Management Committee which overcame a major VHF spectrum shortfall in its first year, potentially saving the U.S. Government $15M.• Purchased and distributed the first encrypted, secure radios for Iraqi Security Forces and implemented operator training, greatly increasing their advantage over the Al-Qaeda network. Oversaw the complete revision of all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure seamless administration on the new networks. • Performed domain-wide upgrade to Microsoft Office 2007 allowing command to more efficiently collaborate with other commands. Integrated PKI/CLO resulting in a more efficient and secure network. • Implemented HelpStar trouble ticket system and trained technicians and end users on its use, decreasing average trouble call resolution time by over 100%.
