      Front of House Supervisor

On leaving school I worked as a front of house supervisor with the functions team at the Randolph Hotel in Oxford. During my time here I was able to enhance my hosting and approachability, I was also able to develop my reactive problem solving skills. With the guidance of my manager I was successful in supervising a team of 10 team members and between us, was able to ensure all of our customers’ needs were met.

      Aug 2008 - Aug 2012

as my Fathers business this role came with a lot of added pressure which I used to my advantage as an added motivation to do well. Over a five-year period with The Shield Group I undertook a Business Management Apprenticeship which resulted in me successfully completing an NVQ Level 3 in Business Management and a City and Guilds Level 3 Qualification in Administration and Office Management. These qualifications taught me the practical skills required to not only work in the maintenance sector but also manage the daily running of a busy office. These skills in combination with the guidance from my Father, I was able to manage the day-to-day running of the business, including budget control, staff supervision, general office administration, as well as quoting and scheduling all service and reactive work for the clients. Another part of my role was to support the business marketing, which involved the promotion of two leading accreditations in Health and Safety and Works Management that we accomplished; including ‘Safe contractor’ and ISO 9001.As I became more experienced in the company I was given the responsibility of ensuring that all staff were trained, accredited and vetted using the DBS process. I would also provide in house ‘toolbox’ chats to improve the team’s knowledge of procedures, but also to check moral. At our peak of trading The Shield Group had 6 teams of 2 out completing 3-4 scheduled and reactive operations a day. This supplied me with the knowledge and confidence to think on my feet and react to any emergency situation provided by the client with a cool head and logical process. Show less

      Pastoral Care Assistant

As a Pastoral Care Assistant at Chilworth House Lower School I have developed a child orientated approach to all things Witherslack. Over the years my job role has evolved to not only include the direct care for the children but also the indirect management of their wellbeing. I’ve done this through the incorporation of Health and Safety management on site and with maintenance support where possible. Working with Dave Wilcox, I was able to put in place a plan to build a sensory garden to provide the children with a safe and fulfilling outside space that they could utilise. I have always been willing to go the extra mile when ensuring the happiness of both the staff and children, and have on many occasions used my school holidays to complete other projects including the maintenance of the building and grounds with the goal maximising the aesthetics and safety of the site. My most recent projects have been rectifying the compliance issues discovered in the kitchen, resolving the electronic gate issues and supporting with an action plan for a new car park. Show less
