      Activities and Societies: Nursing Students Without Borders, Advisor to the UVA Honor System, Kappa Delta Sorority I graduated in May 2014 with my bachelor's degree of science in nursing. During my time as an undergraduate, I was a member of NSWB for four years. I served as the treasurer for two years, and then as the President for my last year of school. With NSWB, I traveled to El Salvador where we support a Red Cross clinic. I also served as an Honor Advisor in UVA's Honor System. Through that role, I was involved with case processing and trials for students who have been investigated and accused of an Honor offense, serving as a liason for the investigated/accused student or the community side. I also shadowed multiple RNs on the unit, and was able to attend a variety of lectures including managing difficult patients, preventing infection for patients with central lines, and treating patients with severe burns.

      I worked in a perioperative department where we prepare patients before they go into surgery. Patient populations that I serve include geriatrics, pediatrics, same day surgeries, certain procedural areas, and in-house patients from both acute care and intermediate care (stepdown) units. I prepare patients for surgery of any and every service, including but not limited to, orthopedic, plastics, ENT, cardiothoracic, colorectal, hepatobiliary, gynecology, etc. Additionally, I also work post-operatively with some same day surgery patients who are being discharged home.
