      2011 - 2015
Bachelor of Arts (BA) Natural Sciences (Zoology) I (First-Class Honours)

I have completed a Bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences, specialising in Zoology for the sophister years. In the freshman years I took classes primarily in Chemistry, Geology and Biology. My dissertation project is based on a proteomics approach to parasitology and immunology, and it is an area in which I am passionately interested. I achieved a First Class result in this degree.

      2017 - 2021
Doctor of Philosophy - PhD Immunology

In my PhD I investigated the potential role of gd+ T cells in protection against the pathogen Staphylococcus aureus, a major cause of often fatal bloodstream infections. With the emergence of antibiotic resistant strains of S. aureus, such as MRSA, the need for an effective vaccine is increasingly urgent. No vaccine has yet been successful in delivering protection against S. aureus in humans, highlighting the need for better understanding of the immune response against this pathogen.

I worked with Rachel McLoughlin's Host-Pathogens Interactions group, investigating the importance of gamma-delta T cells in the immune response to Staphyloccocus aureus.

The fight to reduce the global malaria burden has proven extremely costly, and victory elusive. At NIAID, we have developed a workflow for the isolation and characterization of rare monoclonal antibodies from malaria-exposed individuals as well as vaccinees. Potent antibodies may then be provided as new tools in the treatment of debilitating and often fatal malaria infection.
