With the support of my mentor teacher and university supervisor, I was able to transfer the knowledge from my undergraduate classes into practice in a 3rd grade classroom at Crest View Elementary.

  I taught 4th grade at Semper Elementary World School for two years. Teaching the same grade level expectations for two years back to back allowed me the opportunity to dive deeper into the standards and to create more meaningful, inquiry, and project based learning opportunities. As an IB teacher, student interest and inquiry was the driving force for my teaching and I frequently reflected on my practice to ensure that I was serving my students to the best of my ability. I began teaching 4th grade with a hybrid classroom in the middle of the pandemic, leading me to be flexible, open minded, and committed to learning and understanding 4th grade curriculum through the lens of hybrid teaching. I learned to differentiate curriculum based on both the ability of individual students as well as their learning environment. With my extensive knowledge of lesson planning, I also launched a new STEM-based program to expand learning opportunities for school-aged children.
