  Civil Engineering Intern

  • Paving Project for the West Side Highway and the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. My tasks consisted of consolidating information from project plans, site details, road paving repair needs, and determining the amount of time needed to perform those repairs. Additionally, I had organized an excel spreadsheet of all road signs pertaining to the project; this detailed the signs present on site, the additional signs required during repairs, and all barricades/cones necessary to provide safety to the sites during the repairs. I also had the privilege to experience a real-time bid be award and was tasked with organizing the data of this bid and several past bids into tabular form to track office performance.• Participated in the Hylan Boulevard Streetscape and Sherman Creek bids. My work with the Hylan Blvd. bid consisted of detailing repairs and improvements to be made along a street downtown. I was tasked with calculating the amount of excavation and backfill of the drainage and water mains, cataloging the amount of positions of all nearby water mains and sewer access points, and organizing all this information into a legible spreadsheet. I then compared the lead engineer’s estimates from the Bid Schedule to data that had been previously compiled and made a list of materials and labor that were required in this bid. For the Sherman Creek bid I was tasked to create a pile cap, grade beam, and matt slab schedule utilizing adobe software, this was later used to assist in obtaining quotes. I then determined dimensions, coordinates, volume of Excavation, volume of Backfill, required amount of Form Work, and the resulting amount of Rebar per Cubic Yard and organized this information legibly.• Completed a thorough networking list for Posillico’s subcontractors and suppliers, estimated pricing of items for use in upcoming projects, organized and categorized bid files and their corresponding information, and used Auto CAD 2019 to assess and study plans for upcoming projects.   As a Transmission Civil Engineer, my duties & responsibilities are as follows:• Provide design and engineering support for the entire Corporate Engineering group and Gas Transportation. • Manage transmission and large-diameter distribution pipeline projects of small to moderate scope including route analysis and selection, project cost estimating, coordinating easement acquisition and permitting, material identification & acquisition, construction specifications, assistance with contractor bid and selection process, construction management, restoration and documentation activities. • Manage budget and forecasting duties for projects mentioned above. Assist with the development and justification of annual capital budget items.
