    • Bloxam Burnett & Olliver Ltd

      Nov 2003 - Feb 2004
      Junior Engineer (Undergraduate)

I worked at BBO for 3 summers during my University breaks. Most of the work was site based on Highways infrastructure projects. I carried out various roles here including AutoCAD drafting, tender document preparation, QA testing on current contracts, as well as inspection of various existing highways structures.

    • McConnell Dowell Constructors Ltd

      Mar 2004 - Apr 2007

Site based Project Engineer responsible for the timely delivery of engineered solutions and materials to meet programme. Over this period I worked on various projects in New Zealand, Fiji and American Samoa. The projects included Outfall Pipelines, a Wharf extension, Seawall rehabilitation, a Tunnel relining, and various highways structures and road works. I liaised regularly with the Resident Engineer and our office based temporary works team to develop construction methodologies and implement them. • Site // Project Engineer

        Mar 2004 - Aug 2006
    • Wentworth House Partnership

      Aug 2007 - Dec 2016

I was promoted to Principal Engineer to reflect my increased responsibilities as a member of the Senior Management Team, mentoring junior staff and running larger projects with less supervision. Design to relevant BS /BS-EN codes, furthered understanding of published technical guidance and application of temporary works management procedures to BS5975 and the CDM Regulations. Once chartered (CEng MICE) I became more client facing with my role, not just managing design development but also developing scheme designs for pricing and budget fee estimates for tender submissions. I now manage all aspects of the design requirements of my projects and brief my Directors weekly on technical developments according to the clients programme. Design to relevant BS/ BS-EN design Codes. On relocation to the UK (London) I joined WHP as a Design Engineer working as part of a team under the Project Director. I developed various temporary works schemes and technical submissions on behalf of the Contractors site based management team. All design to BS Codes.

I have also developed training courses to allow application of the Temporary Works Coordinator role (BS5975) internally, as well as a course to raise Temporary Works General Awareness across our sites (and the wider industry through Engineering New Zealand) in line with our duties under the H&S at Work Act (2015).
